The problem

It starts with the situation you're actually in.

Most job-search advice fixes one thing — making your resume look better with cleaner formatting, stronger verbs, a tidier layout. But there are two problems standing between you and the offer, and you'll solve both.

You've found a role worth applying for, the deadline is close, and you're staring at a job description, your master resume, and a blank cover letter. You'll know exactly what to do with all three.

Who it is for

For job seekers who keep getting filtered out and want to tailor their CV and cover letter to beat both the bots and the humans, every single application.

Outcomes

What you'll be able to do.

The Problem with Patchwork

You'll see how much of the resume from your last application was patched together from a document you wrote three jobs ago — and why that quietly costs you.

Why a Strong Resume Can Still Fail the First Test

You'll understand why five years of experience, the right tools, and results that match a marketing manager job description almost line for line can still fail the very first test.

The Cover Letter Nobody Ignores

You'll resolve the contradiction recruiters hold at once — "I barely read cover letters" — and write the kind nobody skips.

The Scan Before the Read

You'll learn to survive the scan that comes before the read, when a recruiter has eighty to a hundred resumes open for one role and a shortlist due by end of week.

Inside the book

A closer look at the work inside.

Build Your Master Resume Checklist

Work through this in a single session or across a few days. Check each item when done. Header.

  • Name, city/state, phone, professional email in the document body (not the header area).
  • LinkedIn URL included and working.
  • Portfolio or GitHub link added if applicable Work Experience.
  • Every role listed with title, company, location, and month/year dates.
  • Six to eight bullets per role, each using: verb + task + result.
  • At least one metric or scope indicator per bullet where possible.

Workbook: Convert Three Bullets

Take three bullets from your most recent role and rewrite each with one formula: verb plus scope plus result plus timeframe or method.

Human-Reader Quality Check

Run through this before submitting any application. Each "no" is a fix opportunity, not a failure. Headline and Summary.

  • My headline names a specific role and context, not just a job category.
  • My summary adds information a recruiter cannot get from the bullet points alone.
  • My summary does not use the phrase "results-oriented," "dynamic," or "seeking a challenging role" Bullet Points.
  • At least half my bullets start with a strong action verb (built, reduced, wrote, launched, trained, negotiated).

Reflection Prompt: Write or Revise Your Summary

Start from the template, then rewrite it in your own voice: your role and level, your years or defining experience, your strongest contribution, and the environment where you work best.

Practice

Before your next cover letter, list every piece of information in it that isn't already in your resume. If that list is empty, you've written a summary paragraph, not a cover letter.
